I read this quote the other day from an admired salon owner/educator/entrepreneur-

“The only transformation you should be teaching is a transformation you have gone through” and here at DEPT.two we are dedicating to share our knowledge of beauty, fashion, and celebrations.

It is incredible to think just 3 years ago I was spinning in circles trying to figure out how to start my own business, or actually to see the career I had been in for 12 years as my own business. But more importantly to me, it was to have my own space to create an environment where I could make all the decisions… not really understanding what that meant.

I went from dreaming of turning a space my mother once rented as a department store, into a salon-event space, to facing the reality that it was at the time out of my “budget,” to leaning hard into trusting what was meant to be… It is pretty cool, actually.

Reflecting, it was the best thing that ever happened, not getting the bigger space I spent much of my childhood in. The nostalgia when my family and I walked through the space and seeing my little girls run back and forth excited me… but for one woman, the space was too much.

SO, here, 3 years later…. I am proud of the choices that were made, that DEPT.two sits 60 feet back from the sidewalk on 1st Avenue, a pergola that invites you to sit and enjoy the stars on a breezy North Shore evening, or to watch the butterflies and bees buzz from plant to plant on sunny day, it has truly sent me in the right direction for my career and my life.

I spend many days and nights, working tirelessly in this space… it is, indeed, my dreams coming to life. And I believe the greatest gift of all is that my friends, family, or new guests are always welcomed to come and enjoy!

There are no regrets.

The dictionary defines transformation as a thorough or dramatic change in form or appearance. I’m sure I will look back at this and laugh to myself soon enough because I find the the Chrissy & DEPT.two of 3 years ago to be so different from where I am today.

As my dreams continue on and evolve, I still want to remain faithful to why I began this journey. I don’t want to wonder, WHAT IF?

DEPT.two is my transformation… I learn about myself a little more every day, I spend my days doing what I love, with who I love and care about, and I get to do it with my family by my side. Not to say all the days are beautiful, because I appreciate the challenges, they are making me stronger, as a wife, mom, daughter, sister, and friend and of course, business owner.

Here is my open invite to everyone, come and transform with me at DEPT.two… let’s start with a haircut, color, new tee or jeans, and a celebration or two, and see where it takes you.
